Cameras

There are three main catagories of still image cameras in the collection. The whole set is viewable at the PhotoPrism image library alongside over 50k of images so far recovered from hard disk archives.

Yoshi built some of the worlds first larger format portable ‘handy’ cameras and his later work with pinhole and manipulated lenses is unique. The custom camera collection is most interesting and features several unique inventions and innovations of lens adaptation, picture plane distortion and camera structures.

He worked as a commercial photographer for half his life, in the process collecting a large selection of large, medium and standard 35mm as well as digital camera bodies, miscilaneous ‘heavy glass’ and contemporary multi function lenses, tripods, flash lighting systems and mounted accessories.

There are quite a few facinating vintage box and bellows cameras which Yoshi picked up at camera shops and vintage fairs. Many were canibalised for lens experiments with mirrorless digital camaras and incorporated in Artworks.
