In the earliest of his Journals from 1975, we found a draft of his bio. It was helpful for us to learn more about his background.

Here is the translated bio (as of 1975)
‘A freelance cameraman who also develops specialized equipment. Born in 1950 in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan University in 1972. While being a member of the Mountain Club and traveling, he began taking botanical photographs. After working as a science photographer at the Material Specimen Centre and the Material Science Centre of Japan’s Science and Technology Agency, he moved to London. There, he worked as an assistant at NJ Paulo Studio before returning to Japan in the spring of 1975.’

At that time, he was 25 years old, and it’s impressive how much professional experience he had already accumulated, especially in scientific photography. We are now reviewing other journals and letters and discovered that he received numerous job offers from Japanese companies even after moving to the UK. It appears he maintained strong connections with Japanese agencies and friends whilst gaining a new circle of friends in the UK.

The same journal also contains a note detailing his previous travels, which were quite exciting: Tokyo, Ogasawara Island, Shiretoko (Hokkaido) in Japan, as well as Taiwan, Europe, and Thailand.
