0059 Carnival

Summer in London wouldn’t be complete without Notting Hill Carnival, music, costumes, parades, children and glamour, the biggest party of them all.. Despite all the unfortunate friction of late 70’s and dodgy press coverage it has persisted and flourished. During the early 90’s it was still an extreme novelty to visit the streets so overrun with this intensity of passion and determination to have fun.

In these vintage photographs of 1990 it’s not hard to imagine Yoshi there at his best, holding his subjects attention just enough, making that vital contact to represent each moment.
